Job Descriptions

The Food and Beverage Captain oversees the daily operations of the restaurant or dining area, ensuring exceptional service, smooth coordination among staff, and a high level of guest satisfaction. This role involves supervising the service team, assisting guests, handling complaints, and ensuring adherence to quality and hygiene standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the service staff (waiters, stewards, runners).

  • Greet guests, take orders when necessary, and ensure timely and accurate service.

  • Monitor table settings, cleanliness, and overall dining area presentation.

  • Train and guide new and existing service staff on standards and procedures.

  • Ensure smooth communication between kitchen and service staff.

  • Handle guest complaints and concerns professionally and promptly.

  • Assist with menu recommendations and upselling of food and beverage items.

  • Ensure compliance with hygiene, health, and safety regulations.

  • Maintain inventory of service items (cutlery, linen, condiments) and report shortages.

  • Assist in preparing duty rosters and assigning daily tasks to team members.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Hotel Management or related field (preferred).

  • 2–4 years of experience in food and beverage service, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.

  • Strong knowledge of food and beverage service standards.

  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations with professionalism.

  • Proficiency in using POS systems and order management software.

  • Customer-focused attitude with attention to detail.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.


Work Environment:

  • Fast-paced hotel, restaurant, or banquet environment.

  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
